Immonen Master MEZZ Classic

Mika “Iceman” Immonen take another victory in 2009, this time at the Second Annual Mezz Classic, winning the 10-ball invitational division over “Rocket” Rodney Morris in the finals.
48-player, fight over the 4 day event was hosted by Corner Pocket Billiards in Orlando, FL, and was sponsored by Mezz Cues and Ozone Billiards.

Immonen went all the way through to the finals undefeated, sending players such as Shawn Putnam 8-4, Thorsten Hohmann 8-4, and Shane Van Boening 8-7 to reach the final. His ultimate opponent in the final, Rodney Morris, had suffered a late loss to Van Boening 8-3 and was forced to make a bid for his appearance in the final match. He fought his way through Johnny “The Scorpion” Archer 8-6. Things didn’t get any easier for the Hawaiian, for then he faced off against a very determined Hohmann. This match went hill-hill, but Morris prevailed to advance to the semifinals against Van Boening. The 2007 Player of the Year didn’t seem to put up much of a fight, and Morris was able to sail through to the finals 8-2.

In the extended race to 10, it was a hard-fought match for both players from start to finish. Immonen took the lead early on, but Morris came back and, in a tooth-and-nail fight, tied the match up at 7 apiece. But Immonen, who happens to be sponsored by Mezz Cues, persevered, and he managed to win the next three racks in a row to win the match and title 10-7.

69th Predator 14/1 Weltmeisterschaften

Zum ersten mal im Jahre 1911, gewann Alfredo DeOro den Titel  Die derzeit großartigsten 14/1 Spieler rund um den Globus kommen in die USA an die Ostküste. 2006 holte sich der deutsche Torsten Hohmann den begehrten Titel welcher natürlich auch dieses Jahr wieder vertreten ist.

Viele bekannte Mitstreiter werden dabei sein, wie John Schmidt, Ralf Souquet, Danny Harriman, Tony Robles, Mika Immonen und der amtierende Champion Niels Fiejen. Für Fejien steht das Ziel Titelverteidigung auf den Plan. Gewann er 2008 im Finale gegen keinen geringeren als F. Bustamante mit 200-11.

64 Spieler in 8 Gruppen mit 8 Spielern, Ausspielziel 100 Kugeln. Die letzten 32 im Doppel KO mit Ausspielziel 150. Die letzten 16 dann im Einfach KO auf 200.
Der Sieger erhält ein Preisgeld von $11,500 und darf seinen Namen auf den Cup gravieren lassen wo viele Große bereits stehen (Steve Mizerak, Mike Sigel, Willie Mosconi, Thorsten Hohmann, Oliver Ortmann...  )

World Games 2009

Start der World Games ist am 16. Juli, die Billarddisziplinen werden vom 22. bis zum 26. Juli ausgetragen.
